THE POWER OF VISUALIZATION
“If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought” -Peace Pilgrim.
When you close your eyes, what do you see? What do you think about and what do you like to see?
Are you aware that what happens in your mind determines the outcomes that manifest physically?
“What you think about and what manifests is usually the same, no exceptions” – Esther Hicks.
It is therefore very important for us to understand the power of visualization and how we can use this to our advantage. I will quickly share the outcome of an experiment with you.
Three groups of professional basketball players were used for this experiment. The first group members were asked to practice ball throwing (Shots) skills for a given number of days, the second group were asked to visualize ball throwing skills for same given number of days while the third group were asked to do nothing. (Long story short) At the end of the experiment, results showed that those who visualized the ball throwing skills were as good as those who practiced physically on the court daily.
Most of us unfortunately visualize the negatives without knowing that this also negatively affects our outcomes.
When you have a dream, goal or project, do you visualize yourself already achieving your set goals?
To visualize simply means to recreate images, sounds and an environment before it happens. Notice that the definition does not say “To see if it will happen rather before it happens” which suggests some level of certainty that what you recreate will happen. This is also called the theory of Psycho cybernetics.
For us to take control of our lives and create our own favorable outcomes, we must make efforts to practice Visualization. Many people have written of how they succeeded at interviews simply by visualizing the entire process before it even happened. This is simply made possible due to the inability of the mind to differentiate between imaginations and reality.
Many people are unable to see the clear-cut demarcation between visualization and trepidation. While one is empowering, the other is dis-empowering.
Instead of dissipating so much energy preparing for the worst, why not start today to visualize your outcomes that you may live free.
Remember, if you can imagine it, you can achieve it.
Think, Create, Grow.
